SikaRapid®-2 AE

Setting accelerator for concrete and mortars

Usage

SikaRapid®-2 AE is suitable for applications where fast early setting and early strength development is required:

Technical Information

Concreting guidance

The standard rules of good concreting practice for production and placing must be observed when using SikaRapid®-2 AE in concrete. Refer to relevant standards. Fresh concrete must be cured properly especially at high temperatures in order to prevent plastic and drying shrinkage. Use Sika® Antisol® products as a curing agent or apply wet hessian.

Compatibility

SikaRapid®-2 AE may be combined with all types of Portland cement and the following Sika products:

▪ SikaFiber®
▪ Sika® Stabilizer
We recommend to perform trial mixes to establish the required performance when combined with the above products. Please consult our Sika
Technical Department.

Dispensing

It is recommended to add SikaRapid®-2 AE to the basic concrete carried in a transit mixer at the place of discharge.
In this case, an additional mixing time of 1 minute per m3 of concrete must be observed. The concrete shall be checked for uniform consistency prior to discharge from a transit mixer.

Restrictions

  • SikaRapid®-2 AE is not compatible with admixtures based on sulfonated naphthalene or melamine.
  • SikaRapid®-2 AE shall not be added to dry cement.
Consumption

Recommended dosage

1.0–2.0 % by weight of cement
Higher dosages by weight of binder can be used depending on the mix design, raw materials, climatic conditions and concrete requirements.
Trial mixes must be performed to establish the exact dosage rate required.
