Sikament® RB 600 S

SUPERPLASTICIZER FOR USE WITH CONVENTIONAL AND MICROSILICA CONCRETE

Sikament® RB 600 S is a super plasticizing admixture for use with all types of concrete and concrete containing microsilica, fly ash, Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag (GGBS) and other reactive binders. Sikament® RB 600 S possesses the ability to retain workability for extended periods even in high temperatures. Suitable for use in hot and tropical climatic conditions

Usage

Sikament® RB 600 S can be used as a superplasticizer for the production of free flowing concrete for:
  • Production of microsilica concrete
  • Production of low permeability and high strength concrete
  • Production of rheoplastic concrete
  • Low water / cement ratio concrete
  • Hot weather concreting

Technical Information

Concreting guidance

The standard rules of good concreting practice for production and placing must be observed when using Sikament® RB 600 S in concrete. Refer to relevant standards. Fresh concrete must be cured properly especially at high temperatures in order to prevent plastic and drying shrinkage. Use Sika® Antisol® products as a curing agent or apply wet hess

Compatibility

Sikament® RB 600 S is suitable for mixes containing all types of cement and supplementary cementitious materials such as: Microsilica (Silica Fume), Fly Ash (PFA), GGBS (Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag) and the following Sika products:

  • SikaPump®
  • Sika® FerroGard®
  • SikaFume®
  • SikaFiber®
  • Sika® Aer
  • Sika® Stabilizer
  • SikaControl®

We recommend to perform trial mixes to establish the required performance when combining Sikament® RB 600 S with the above products or other admixtures. Please consult Sika Technical Department for further assistance.

Dispensing

Sikament® RB 600 S should be added to the concrete mix during the mixing cycle at the same time as the water. Never add Sikament® RB 600 S to dry cement or dry microsilica. Alternatively, Sikament® RB 600 S can be added via the feed hopper of a concrete truck mixer to produce flowing concrete on site as a means of slump control at high ambient temperatures (ensure at least 30 revolutions of the mixer drum when adding on site).
Consumption

Recommended dosage

Sikament® RB 600 S is normally dispensed at a rate of 0.6 – 1.3 Iitres per 100 kg of total binder. Other dosages may be used, depending on the mix design, raw materials, climatic conditions and concrete requirements. Trial mixes must be performed to establish the exact dosage rate required.
