• Substrates must be dry, clean, sound and free of curing compounds, release agents, paint or other residue or contamination.
• Surface irregularities in concrete, block or brick work should be pretreated with Sikagard® AWB 661 FL (see related Product Data Sheet) to provide a smooth surface and ensure a void and pinhole free membrane.
• Pretreatment of rough openings and joints in cement boards shall be carried out as follows: All rough openings, including window and door openings, shall be fully pretreated with Sikagard® AWB 661 I to ensure continuous coverage at corners, edges, and transitions.
• When applied to cement fiber boards or similar substrates, all board joints shall be reinforced with suitable reinforcing fabric embedded into a wet layer of Sikagard® AWB 661 I, ensuring full saturation and removal of wrinkles or voids.

• Sikagard® AWB 661 I is supplied as a single component material which can be used directly from original packaging or poured into a new container that is clean and free of foreign substances.
• It should be thoroughly stirred with a clean, rust-free drill and paddle until homogeneous.
• Never dilute Sikagard® AWB 661 I.
• Close container when not in use.

• For roller, brush, or trowel application, any material previously applied at joints or rough openings shall be allowed to dry to the touch before applying Sikagard® AWB 661 I to the full wall surface. For spray application, wet-on-wet application is acceptable where uniform coverage can be maintained.
• When applying by roller, pre-wet the synthetic roller cover with clean water and spin out excess so the roller is damp but not dripping. This pre-wetting is required only once at the start of application.
• Apply the first coat at a uniform wet film thickness (WFT) of approximately 190 µm and allow it to dry completely. Inspect the surface to ensure it is continuous and free of blisters, voids, or pinholes, then apply a second coat at approximately 190 µm WFT.

• Alternatively, where the substrate is properly pretreated, the product may be applied in a single uniform coat at a total WFT of approximately 380 µm (0.56 kg/m²).
• For spray application, a single coat of 380 µm WFT may be applied only on cement boards complying with ASTM C1177 or on concrete masonry substrates pretreated with a scrape coat of Sikagard® AWB 661 FL.
• Allow the system to dry completely before exposure or installation of subsequent finishes.

Clean all tools and equipment with water immediately after use. Cured material can only be removed mechanically.
