Sika® Igolflex®-620

(former MasterSeal® 620)

RUBBERIZED BITUMINOUS WATERPROOFING EMULSION

Sika® Igolflex®-620 is a brown rubber/bitumen liquid emulsion with excellent adhesion which dries to a tough black seamless, flexible dampproof and vapour-proof membrane. Suitable for tropical and hot climatic conditions.

Usage

  • Damp-proofing structures: to provide an impervious damp-proof membrane on concrete and brick.
  • Floors: to provide a sandwich membrane in new construction or a surface treatment.
  • Walls: for interior and exterior walls.
  • Roofs: for the maintenance of many types of roofs including built-up felt, asphalt, lead, zinc, aluminium, concrete, lightweight screeds, timber, slate, asbestos cement, corrugated iron, and as a vapour barrier.
  • As an adhesive: for bonding wood blocks and wood mosaics, insulation board, expanded polystyrene and cork tiles and to provide a key for plastering.

Composition

Sika® Igolflex®-620 is a thixotropic cold applied bitumen emulsion with added rubber latex ~10%

Shelf life

12 months minimum from production date when stored properly in original, unopened, sealed containers.

Storage conditions

Store in undamaged, unopened, original sealed packaging in dry conditions at temperatures between +5°C and +35°C. Protect from direct sunlight, heat and moisture.

Drying time

  • Sika® Igolflex®-620 will take longer to dry sufficiently for over-coating in low temperatures and high humidity.
  • Provisions of good ventilation will significantly reduce drying time.
  • Sika® Igolflex®-620 should allowed to dry for 3-5 days.

Consumption

Typically, a coverage rate of 1.5 - 2 m2 / litre / coat (minimum 2 coats required) dependent on substrate, porosity, texture and desired application. Please contact Sika Technical Department for further information.
Application steps

SUBSTRATE PREPARATION

All surfaces must be sound, even, free from dust, loose particles and any contamination. May be applied to damp but not waterlogged surfaces.
Hot and very dry, porous concrete surfaces must be primed by diluting Sika® Igolflex®-620 with clean water at 1 : 1 ratio (by weight).
When used as protective coating, all pinholes, cavities, cracks etc. in the substrate must be filled with a suitable Sika® repair mortar.

APPLICATION

If a primer coat is applied, allow it to dry before applying subsequent coats.
Apply evenly and in one direction using a brush or roller. A two-coat application is recommended to avoid possible pinholes in the membrane.
Each coat must be allowed to dry before applying the next one.
Protect freshly applied product from rain until it is fully cured.

CLEANING OF EQUIPMENT

Before Sika® Igolflex®-620 has dried, clean tools using soapy water. If dried, remove by scraping and with paraffin or white spirit.
