SikaControl®-730 WT OM

Hydrophobic pore-blocking ingredient for watertight concrete

SikaControl®-730 WT OM is a hydrophobic pore-blocking ingredient (H.P.I.) for concrete. It significantly reduces water absorption of concrete.
SikaControl®-730 WT OM is a chloride free organic admixture and supplied as a clear to slightly cloudy liquid. It reacts with the cement hydration process to form a hydrophobic ingredient to reduce the capillary suction and prevent the ingress of potentially deleterious soluble material, resulting in concrete with enhanced durability.
Suitable for use in hot and tropical climatic conditions.

Usage

SikaControl®-730 WT OM is suitable for most concrete structure, that are subjected to water pressure and dampness from internal or external sources such as:
▪ Basement walls and floors
▪ Tunnels / underpass   ▪ Foundations, piles and pile caps ▪ Water retaining structures, swimming pool, water tanks, reservoirs, water towers
▪ Land drainage, manholes
▪ Reinforced concrete in marine environment subject to tidal and wet / dry cycling
▪ Waste water treatment and desalination plant

Technical Information

Concreting guidance

The standard rules of good concreting practice for production and placing must be observed when using SikaControl®-730 WT OM in concrete. Refer to relevant standards.
Fresh concrete must be cured properly especially at high temperatures in order to prevent plastic and drying shrinkage. Use Sika® Antisol® products as a curing agent or apply wet hessian.

Compatibility

SikaControl®-730 WT OM may be combined with all types of Portland cement, concretes containing pozzolanic materials such as: GGBS (Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag), Fly Ash (PFA) , Micro Silica (Silica Fume) and the following Sika product ranges / admixtures:
Sika® Plasticisers: Sika® ViscoCrete®, SikaPlast®, Sikament®, Sika® Plastiment®, SikaFiber®, Sika® Aer, SikaPump®, Sika® FerroGard®, SikaControl®.
We recommend to perform trial mixes to establish the required performance when combining SikaControl®-730 WT OM with the above or other admixtures.

Dispensing

SikaControl®-730 WT OM is added separately to the initial batching water to ensure complete distribution throughout the mix.
Do not add SikaControl®-730 WT OM directly to the dry mix. Optimal result is obtained if SikaControl®-730 WT OM is poured into the concrete mix right after the addition of the first 80 % of the mixing water, i.e. when all solids are wetted.
Consumption

Recommended dosage

1.0 - 2.0 % by weight of binder.
Other dosages by weight of binder may be used depending on the mix design, raw materials, climatic conditions and concrete requirements.
Trial mixes must be performed to establish the exact dosage rate required.
