Sika® Antisol®-181 AE

Acrylic resin based multi-role curing, sealing and protective membrane for concrete

Sika® Antisol®-181 AE is a non-degrading, membrane-forming liquid based on acrylic resin suitable for spray application to freshly poured concrete. The resultant film retains sufficient moisture in the concrete to ensure full hydration of the cement; essential for optimum strength development.
The cured concrete is typically harder and exhibits a dust free surface with a reduced incidence of drying shrinkage cracks.
Additionally, the membrane acts as a primer system for many subsequent surface finishes that do not rely on penetration for substrate bond.
When applied to floors, Sika® Antisol®-181 AE seals and dustproofs the surface, eliminating the primary source of abrasion and enhancing durability.

Usage

Sika® Antisol®-181 AE is applied to fresh concrete surfaces to form a fast drying, thin, flexible and tough impervious membrane which protects the concrete from rapid water evaporation during initial curing stages, thereby assisting towards obtaining maximum strength, durability and helping towards the elimination of shrinkage cracks and surface dusting.
Sika® Antisol®-181 AE is particularly useful in large areas of exposed concrete such as:
  • Highways, runways and taxiways
  • Aprons and hardstandings
  • Roof decks
  • Retaining walls
  • Pre-stressed beams and piers
  • Bridge decks, etc

Storage conditions

Store in undamaged, unopened, original sealed packaging in dry conditions at temperatures between +5°C and +30°C. Mix well before using.

Sika® Antisol®-181 AE is recommended to be applied at approx. coverage rate of 4.5 – 5.5 m² per litre.
This corresponds to the rate at which Sika® Antisol®-181 AE has been tested and at which it attains the claimed degree of curing efficiency. In favourable conditions such as shaded interior surfaces, adequate curing can be achieved with extended coverage rates. 
Application steps

APPLICATION

The compound should be spray applied as evenly as possible to the freshly placed concrete.
For horizontal surfaces the Sika® Antisol®-181 AE should be applied as soon as the initial surface sheen has disappeared from the concrete face. In the case of formed concrete, the product should be applied immediately on removal of the formwork.
