Sika® Stabilizer-1113 TBM

Foaming agent for soft ground in TBM applications

Sika® Stabilizer-1113 TBM is a foaming agent used for soil conditioning in shielded TBMs.

  • Particularly effective for soil conditioning in granular soils with high fines contents (< 0.063 mm)

Usage

Sika® Stabilizer-1113 TBM is used to create a highly stable foam to hold the face pressure and maintain the rheology of the excavated ground longer than conventional foaming agents. Sika® Stabilizer-1113 TBM is used for:
  • Soft ground with medium to low groundwater pressure

Storage conditions

The Product must be stored in original, unopened and undamaged sealed packaging in dry conditions at temperatures between +5 °C and +50 °C. Always refer to the packaging.

Do not allow the Product to freeze.

Recommended dosage

The Product is used as an aqueous solution with a typical concentration of 1–3 %, depending on soils fines content and groundwater pressure.

Application steps

APPLICATION

  1. Conduct preliminary trials in the laboratory to determine foam injection parameters, such as Concentration (Cf), FER and FIR.
  2. The Product is used with the standard foam generators installed in all EPB machines. Inject it at the front of the cutterhead, into the excavation chamber or into the screw conveyor.
  3. Analyse the TBM data regularly to monitor Product performance.
