First fill, fire-resistant tail sealant grease for shielded TBMs

Sika® Stabilizer-2131 TBM is a fire-resistant, first-fill tail sealant grease for shielded TBM. It effectively seals the brushes located in the tail shield.

Usage

Sika® Stabilizer-2131 TBM is used for:
  • Sealing and protecting the metal brushes located in the tail shield before TBM start-up.

Storage conditions

The Product must be stored in original, unopened and undamaged sealed packaging in dry conditions at temperatures between +5 °C and +50 °C. Always refer to the packaging.

Application steps

APPLICATION

  1. Before starting up the TBM, apply the Product onto the metal brushes with a grease pump. Make sure the grease pump is as close as possible to the TBM. IMPORTANT Avoid discharge of the Product into the environment.

    Note: Keep the grease temperature above +15 °C during application.

  2. Perform the initial filling with a separate flexible pumping hose (minimum diameter 2"). Make sure that there is no obstruction or bottleneck after the pump.

    Note: Fit a flat tube to the end of the hose in order to ease the filling operation and ensure not to damage the brushes.
