High strength, non-flow epoxy bedding and repair mortar

Sikadur® ADH 2200 is a non-slumping, two-component epoxy bedding compound and adhesive. The product is a fine aggregate-filled, fast-curing epoxy system designed for a wide range of applications, including bedding, gap filling, anchoring, and concrete repair. Its non-sag consistency makes it particularly suitable for vertical and overhead applications where stable placement is required. Sikadur® ADH 2200 is a high-performance epoxy adhesive and repair compound with a stiff yet easily workable consistency. It can be applied using a trowel, spatula, or putty knife, ensuring ease of placement in a wide range of applications. Upon curing, the material develops excellent mechanical properties characteristic of epoxy-based compounds. It exhibits outstanding resistance to oils, greases, petroleum products, salts, numerous acids and alkalis, as well as most commonly encountered corrosive chemicals. Sikadur® ADH 2200 is non-shrinking during cure and is designed for service in temperatures ranging from below freezing up to 60 °C. The cured compound provides exceptional durability, impact resistance, and mechanical strength, exceeding that of conventional concrete, making it suitable for demanding structural repair and bonding applications.

Storage conditions

Store in original, unopened, sealed and undamaged packaging in dry conditions at temperatures between +5 °C and +30 °C. Protect from direct sunlight.

Chemical resistance

Sikadur® ADH 2200 has excellent resistance to the following: most aqueous systems, sewage, urine, fresh water, sea water, diluted and concentrated alkalis, diluted acids, sulphur gases, mineral oil, vegetable and animal oils and fats, ammonia and formaldehyde.

Layer thickness

Sikadur® ADH 2200 may be applied from a feather edge for minor surface repairs up to a maximum recommended layer thickness of 3 mm per application. For greater repair depths, application in multiple layers or the use of a suitable epoxy repair mortar should be considered.

Application steps

SUBSTRATE QUALITY

Mortar and concrete must be older than 28 days (depends on minimal requirement of strengths). Verify the substrate strength (concrete, masonry, natural stone).
The substrate surface (all types) must be clean, dry or mat damp (no standing water) and free from contaminants such as dirt, oil, grease, existing surface treatments and coatings, etc.

SUBSTRATE PREPARATION

Concrete, mortar, stone, bricks: Substrates must be sound, dry, clean and free from laitance, ice, standing water, grease, oils, old surface treatments or coatings and all loose or friable particles must be removed to achieve a laitance and contaminant free, open textured surface.

 

MIXING

Mix components A and B together for at least 3 minutes with a mixing spindle attached to a slow speed electric drill (maximum 300 rpm) until the material becomes smooth in consistency and a uniform in colour. Avoid aeration while mixing. Then, pour the whole mix into a clean container and stir again for approximately 1 minute at low speed to keep air entrapment at a minimum. Mix only that quantity which can be used within its pot life.

APPLICATION

When using a thin layer adhesive, apply the mixed adhesive to the prepared surface with a spatula, trowel, notched trowel, (or with hands protected by gloves). Where a very deep recess is to be filled, it may be necessary to apply the product in layers. Once hardened check the adhesion by tapping with a hammer.

CLEANING OF EQUIPMENT

Clean all tools and application equipment with suitable solvent (Xylene / MEK / Acetone) immediately after use. Hardened / cured material can only be mechanically removed.
