Sikalastic® M 262 R

One-component polyurethane membrane for roof waterproofing applications

Sikalastic® M 262 R is a one-component unmodified pure polyurethane fluid which cures with the humidity in the atmosphere. It produces a highly elastic, hydrophobic membrane and has been designed to offer excellent long-term waterproofing of roofs in applications not exposed to UV (inverted or burried roof waterproofing systems). Suitable for use in hot and tropical climatic conditions.

Usage

Sikalastic® M 262 R is suitable for waterproofing of the following areas, under tiles or screed:
  • Flat roofs
  • Podiums
  • Terraces / balconies
  • Waterproof coating for spray applied insulation

Application steps

SUBSTRATE QUALITY

The surface to be coated must be clean, dry free of laitance, oil, grease or any substance that may impair adhesion. The preferred method of surface preparation are: captive blasting, surface grinding or similar. Repairs to the substrate, filling of joints, blowholes/voids and surface leveling must be carried out using the appropriate Sika® products. Please contact Sika’s Technical Department for further advice.

 

 

PRIMING

 

 

The typical application of Sikalastic® M 262 R on sound and stable substrate does not require priming. The use of primer such as Sikafloor®-151 or Sikalastic®-1 C Primer PU, can be considered depending on actual substrate and ambient conditions to seal the substrate and/or for improved adhesion and application performance.

APPLICATION

Apply with brush or roller in two or more coats with minimum total consumption of ~1.5 kg/m² to achieve minimum 1 mm DFT.

Subsequent coats can be applied once the previous coat is touch dry.

 

CLEANING OF EQUIPMENT

Re-useable tools should be cleaned carefully with a suitable thinner (Xylene / MEK / Acetone). Hardened material can only be removed mechanically.
