Sika® Igolflex® AE

High Build, Flexible Bituminous Rubber Emulsion Coating

Sika® Igolflex® AE is a one part, water based, flexible, thixotropic, high build rubberized bitumen emulsion coating.
Suitable for tropical and hot climatic conditions.

Usage

  • Waterproofing of all types of below ground concrete structures such as concrete foundations, footings, retaining walls, bridge abutments, etc.
  • Wet areas such as bathrooms, showers and kitchens
  • Vapour barrier for walls, floors, and roofs
  • Damp proofing for building exteriors and facades
  • Protective coating for concrete structures, cement blocks and wood.

Consumption

Consumption

0.6 - 0.9 kg/m2/coat depending on substrates and the desired degree of protection.
1.8 kg/m2 for a dry film thickness of ~1 mm to be applied in minimum of two coats.
Application steps

SUBSTRATE QUALITY

Substrate must be smooth, free of dust, grease, oil, and loose or friable particles.
Surface defects, voids, honeycombing etc. in the concrete must be repaired before coating using, for example, the SikaRep® range of products.

SUBSTRATE PREPARATION

Dampen very dry concrete surfaces with clean water.
Clean contaminated substrates by steam cleaning, high pressure water jetting etc.

CLEANING OF EQUIPMENT

Clean all tools and equipment immediately after use with soap and water. Place tools in water during breaks. Hardened material can only be removed with Sika® Thinner C or mechanically.
