Note: Times are approximate and will be affected by coating thickness and changing ambient conditions particularly temperature and relative humidity. Low temperature and high humidity retard curing, while high temperatures and low humidity accelerate curing progression.

This figure is theoretical and does not allow for any additional material due to surface porosity, surface profile, variations in level and wastage etc.

The surface to be coated must be clean, dry free of laitance, oil, grease or any substance that may impair adhesion.

Cementitious substrates:
Concrete should be cured for at least 28 days and should have a pull-off strength > 1.5 N/mm². Loose friable material and weak concrete must be completely removed by mechanical means to achieve an open textured surface and all surface defects such as blowholes and voids must be fully exposed. The preferred method of surface preparation are: captive blasting, surface grinding or similar. Repairs to the substrate, filling of joints, blowholes/voids and surface leveling must be carried out using the appropriate Sika® products. High spots must be mechanically levelled by grinding.
Outgassing is a naturally occurring phenomenon of concrete that can produce pinholes in subsequently applied coatings. The concrete must be carefully assessed for air entrapment, and surface finish prior to any coating work. Installing the Sikalastic®-311 (AE) either when the concrete temperature is falling or stable can reduce outgassing.
If primer is required, use Sikafloor®-151.

Brick and stone:
Mortar joints must be sound and flush pointed.

Metals:
Metals must be in a clean, sound, and rust free condition. Metals surfaces must be free of oil and greases. Abrade exposed surfaces and prime as necessary.

Refer to Sika’s Technical Department for further advice on surface requirements, repair materials and priming.

• Damageable areas (handrails, etc) have to be protected with tape or plastic wrapping.
• Priming: If primer is used, refer to respective primer product data sheet for details. Allow the priming coat to dry prior to coating application.
• Application: Apply Sikalastic®-311 (AE) by brush or roller in two or more coats, achieving the minimum total consumption of ~1.5 kg/m². Subsequent coats can be applied once the previous coat is touch dry. Allow proper waiting period prior to subsequent activities.

Clean all tools and application equipment with Thinner C immediately after use. Hardened and/or cured material can only be removed mechanically.
