Sika monitors its greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions as part of the environmental responsibility the company has for climate. With Strategy 2028, the company aims to reduce by -20% scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions in absolute terms, and scope 3 emissions in alignment with the net zero pledge. Moreover, the compensation scheme of Group Management and Sika Senior Managers is linked to the GHG emissions performance of the company (scope 1 and 2). Scope 3 Assessment and Net Zero Target

Sika is addressing climate change comprehensively in its strategic development. To do so, several projects and initiatives were kicked off in the last years as a basis for developing Sika net zero roadmap. All these ongoing projects and activities will allow Sika to define a comprehensive climate strategy with concrete long-term plans to decarbonize its business.

In 2022, Sika initiated a net zero project to develop a detailed roadmap with GHG emissions abatement targets. In the same year, Sika finalized a 2-year company-wide initiative to systematically identify and calculate emissions from its material scope 3 GHG categories in accordance with the requirements of the Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHGP). This analysis will contribute to the definition of a climate strategy and carbon reduction pathway to reach net zero by 2050.

Moreover, following its official commitment in September 2022, Sika received the SBTi validation of its near and long-term emission reduction targets in May 2024. By 2032, Sika is committed to reducing absolute scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 50.4% compared to the 2022 baseline. Over the same period, the company is also committed to reducing absolute scope 3 GHG emissions by 30%. By 2050, Sika is committed to reducing absolute scope 1, 2 and 3 GHG emissions by 90% compared to the 2022 baseline.
